GOD HAS SEEN MY AFFLICTION. GENESIS 31:42 NKJV
The names of God - El Roi
Praise God for His mercy! Praise Him for His loving-kindness! Praise Him for being deeply concerned about His people! El Roi is "The God Who Sees", a God Who has an intense passion for His creation.
Hagar was the first to call upon God as El Roi in Genesis 16:13. She was caught between Abram's weak nature and Sarai's impatience. After ten years with no child, Sarai gave Hagar to Abram. Now Hagar is pregnant, scorned and mistreated by her mistress and soon put out with no support. We sometimes get caught up in other people's mess due to no fault of our own. Despondent and seemingly with no answers, Hagar wanders in the wilderness. The Angel of the Lord appears to comfort and strengthen Hagar at her most pressing hour. God saw her distress and affliction and was quick to intervene. Solomon wrote, "The eyes of the Lord are in every place" (Proverbs 15:3). God hears all; God sees all. El Roi saw Israel in slavery and sent Moses. He saw Israel in rebellion and sent Isaiah. He saw the world in sin and sent Jesus. Mankind was mired in depravity with no way out. El Roi saw the need for a Savior. Due to His undying love for us, Jesus sacrificed His body so that anyone believing in Him would receive the gift of salvation. He sees your every individual need and is more than willing to provide. David said, "The Lord has been mindful of us; He will bless us..." (Psalm 115:12 NKJV) - and that's good news.
