"What did you get for Christmas?"
Oh, my! It’s a new year! Where did 2018 go? I’m sure we all have various and sundry stories we can share about 2018! It is highly probable that in a few days, when the institutions of learning reopen, two subjects will be discussed, maybe at great length! One is, “Look what I got for Christmas!” The other: “What did you get for Christmas.

As we enter our last month of this year we are reminded on every hand of the precious Gift of God's love to all mankind in the form of a little baby boy, born in a lowly manger because there was no room at the inn. From the goodness of the Innkeepers heart space was provided in the stable. Joseph was grateful for this.

Jesus knows how you feel!
Are you financially strapped? Jesus knows how you feel. He said He didn't have a place to lay His head. Do you feel taken advantage of? Jesus paid taxes to a foreign emperor. But what if your problem is the opposite? You have a successful business to run. Can Jesus relate? Absolutely. He recruited and oversaw His own organization.

Choose for yourselves
Our lives are like icebergs. Only 15 percent is visible, that's reputation. The rest, our character, is below the surface, hidden. Character is what we think but never share. It's what we do when no one's watching. It's how we react to everyday aggravations. It's how we handle failure- and success. The thing that has made us what we are is our choices.

Be Still and Know that I Am God
by: Pastor Tquita Q. Brown
Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. -Psalms 46:10 Kjv
Sometimes life gets noisy! When life gets noisy, we get busy trying to fix every piece of the missing puzzle to quiet it down, even things we cannot control. It's in our nature at times to "save the day.

My Help Comes from the Lord
TODAY’S SCRIPTURE: Psalm 121 I will lift up my eyes to the hills from whence comes my help? 2 My help comes from the Lord who made heaven and earth. 3 He will not allow your foot to be moved; He who keeps you will not slumber. 4 Behold, He who keeps Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. 5 The Lord is your keeper; the Lord is your shade at your right hand.

James 2:20; “Faith without works is dead.” Faith is creative. Faith is innovative. Faith is inventive. It is full of inventions. Faith makes things happen. Faith makes a way. It is easy to mumble, grumble, and complain. It is easy to bad-mouth or poor-mouth. But where are the people of faith that will take action? Faith without works is dead! Faith without corresponding actions is dead.

Freedom- John 8:36; So if the Son sets you free, you are truly free.
True freedom is not gained through government legislation or any man authored ideas. True Freedom begins within your spirit with a true heartfelt relationship with Jesus Christ. Will you receive true freedom as a gift from God, by faith in Jesus Christ? This freedom is not superficial neither is it based on certain conditions.

Understanding Life’s Challenges
Have you ever thought; Life seams to be so unfair. I have! It appears, the good suffer while the bad prosper, or the good die young while a lot of evil people seem to live on forever. Many times such thinking, comes as a result of our difficult moments or a tragedy.

singing and our children and grandchildren playing in the parks. God wants our lives to spring
forth, to bloom as the flowers do, to enjoy the fellowship of our friends and loved one. To have
the full confidence that God says we “would prosper and be in good health even as our soul
prospers.

In the book of 1 Samuel, chapter fifteen and verse twenty-two, the prophet Samuel makes this statement. “Has the Lord as great a delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.” The word obey in this verse carries an interesting definition when looked at it in its original form.

A person is obligated to say, “The world was created for me.” [Talmud] We are obligated to be aware of our own greatness. Feel proud that you are created in the image of God. Pride in the awareness of the greatness and elevation of your soul is not only proper, but it is actually an obligation. It is a binding duty to recognize your virtues and to live with this awareness.

THE IMPORTANCE OF PRAYER
How important is it to pray for yourself, others, and your enemies? Matthew 25:41 says, “Pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.” Satan tempts Jesus in the wilderness - Matthew 4:1-11, yet he remained obedient to God.

How many times have you heard that? How many years have you enjoyed complete happiness?
Happiness is a fleeting emotion. Happiness is based on one’s personal satisfaction of immediate circumstances. Happiness last as long as those immediate circumstances remain effective. I believe that it is safe to say that a constant state of happiness cannot be maintained.

All of you must obey those who rule over you. There are no authorities except the ones God has chosen. Those who now rule have been chosen by God. 2 So whoever opposes the authorities opposes leaders whom God has appointed. Those who do that will be judged. 3 If you do what is right, you won’t need to be afraid of your rulers. But watch out if you do what is wrong.

From my perspective, I believe that much of what we are aware of concerning the ills and impact of world conditions and circumstances are not really different from bygone years. It’s just that the intensity and irritation factors are inching up, sometimes noticeably. And, it may very well be that we are suffering from that well known communicable disease call TMI.
